I saw Botticelli's painting, 'Primavera' in the Uffizi Museum in 2003 and have been haunted by it ever since. There is beauty but also a sense of peril. I was inspired by 'Primavera' to create a contemporary scene of a mysterious ceremony taking place in the woods. My painting, 'Rites of Spring,' pays homage to Botticelli.
