Description/Statement:
Inspired by a series of life drawing classes I teach at a local art school, my little ceramic sculptures recreate the unique spirit and character of each model, accentuating what is both personal and familiar. As the models posed, I noticed that the everyday context from which bodies are given meaning were removed. There was nothing more than their body in front of me. With recycled clay, I handbuilt each piece as it has become more exciting to me than graphite and a blank page. I hope my sculptures will allow people to rediscover the many expressions of the human body and the beauty that lies within them.
受到我在当地一所艺术学校教授的写生课程的启发，我的小陶瓷雕塑再现了每个“人物”的独特精神和性格，强调了个人和熟悉的东西。 当模特摆出姿势时，我注意到赋予身体意义的日常环境被移除了。在我的面前除了他们的身体什么也没有。我用回收的陶土手工制作了每件作品，因为它们对我来说比石墨和空白页更令人兴奋。 我希望我的雕塑能让人们重新发现人体的多种表达方式以及其中蕴含的美。
