Jane Theodore’s paintings are a spontaneous, passionate response to her internal world and the external natural environment. She explores these terrains using high-intensity saturated colour and dynamic compositions. Theodore includes personal and considered mark making in her work. Elements in her environment—cloud formations, the shifting palette of an evening sky, unexpected combinations of colour and light—influence her painting. Her work can be read as an exploration of the world and of painting itself, informed by experience, memory, and emotion.
Theodore’s fine arts background includes exhibitions of her work in Canada, Portugal and the United States, representation by international art distributor Progressive Fine Art, and publication by Verkerke Reprodukties N. V., of Holland. Theodore’s work is included in the Collections Canada website, Women Artists in Canada, and in numerous collections throughout North America. She is represented by Muse Gallery in Toronto.
