Grace Tao – Biography
Painter and Senior Designer working in the industry of visual arts for years.

Grace Tao is an artist who has extensive experience in painting, design, business, and collection. From academia to business, she has transcended the field of creation. In recent years, she has been engaged in interior design, making art deeply rooted in life. Driving a motorcycle, communicating with customers one-on-one, and other life and actions rooted in the land of Vancouver are the source of her artistic creation. Her works mainly have two different styles, one is the pleasing abstract and colour field oil painting, and the other is the juxtaposition of machinery and flowers and plants that combines pop and realism to explore the relationship between natural laws, human engineering, and design logic.

主修绘画，辅修计算机艺术。
Grace Tao是一位涉猎绘画、设计、商业、和收藏的艺术家。从学院到商业，她超 越了创作领域。近年来她从事室内软装设计，使艺术深入生活。自驾摩托车、与客 户一对一交流等扎根于温哥华这片土地的生活和行动，是她艺术创作的来源。她的 作品主要有两个不同的风格，其一是令人赏心悦目的抽象和色域油画，其二是结合 了波普风格和写实风格的对机械和鲜花植物的并列描绘，以探索自然规律，人类工 程，和设计逻辑之间的关系。
Grace Tao – Artist Statement
I started painting when I was young. I obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and a double Bachelor’s degree in Economics in China. After immigration, I obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Concordia University in Montreal, Canada, where I majored in painting and minored in computer art. My subsequent family life and entrepreneurial experience made me fascinated by mechanical themes, because it is very similar to the experience of life. It has rich layers and beauty of structure, but also makes people trapped in some degree of irresistible operation.
Art is an expression of emotions. If the process of touching oneself can also be conveyed to the viewer, it is an effective and silent resonance. Like many artists, life is the source of inspiration for creation. Years of immigrant life, family life, and work experience continue to enrich what I want to say about “painting”. Post-Impressionism, Byzantium and David Hockney are the schools and painters that have a great influence on me at this stage. The texture, colour and composition of their works are never boring.
The mechanical process of painting is like an outlet for emotions, whether it is the deconstruction of itself or the collision with natural elements, combined with colour expression, the rich sense of picture makes the output of emotions more complete: real and unreal, perfect and imperfect, the entanglement of freedom and discipline, the collision of nature and man-made, impossible connection, contradiction and harmony. – Grace Tao 2025
Grace Tao – 陈述
Grace从小开始绘画，在中国获得工科本科，经济学双学士，移民后又获得加拿大 蒙特利尔康考迪亚大学, BFA 美术学士学位，主修绘画，辅修计算机艺术。之后多 年家庭生活，创业经历使她对机械这个题材着迷，因为它与生活的体验感很像，既 有结构的丰富层次与美感，同时也让人受困于某些程度不可抗拒的运转。
艺术是情绪的表达，触动自己的过程如果能同样传达至观者，就是一次有效的，无 声共鸣。和很多艺术家一样，生活是创作的灵感来源，多年的移民生活，家庭生 活，和创业经历不断充实她想说的“画”。后印象派，拜占庭以及David Hockney是 现阶段对她影响很大的流派和画家，他们的机理，色彩和构图，在表达的同时，增 强了她的画面语言。
绘画机械的过程像一个情绪的出口，不管是自身的解构或与自然元素的碰撞，结合 色彩表达，丰富的画面感让情绪的输出更完整：真实又不真实，完美又不完美，自 由与纪律的纠缠，天然与人为的碰撞，连接不可能，矛盾又和谐。
