The illustration of Breakthrough metaphors a resilience and growth of the mental state, the same as the craft Kintsugi expresses on embracing imperfection. The lotus root is the seed before the lotus grows into a flower. Each flower will go through the process of breaking through the lotus pod. I think this process can symbolize the cycle of life. It is not 100% that every lotus pod can bloom into flowers. Some seeds may grow green leaves. Many people think only seeds that grow flowers are successful. However, the flowers without the set of leaves will lose a lot of colour. I hope that through this painting I can encourage people not to let fear of the unknown and the frustrations on the way stop them from becoming unique and shining individuals.
